Project Overview
-
Project Name: Yangshuwan Old Community Reconstruction – Student Dormitory Project
-
Project Type: Building Renovation (Foundation Investigation)
-
Location: Yangshuwan Community, Wujiang District, Suzhou, China
-
Foundation Background: The original foundation consists of cast-in-place concrete piles. Due to the age of the residential community, original construction records and pile parameters were no longer available.
Testing Purpose & Method
Prior to the conversion of the community into student dormitories, a detailed understanding of the existing foundation was required to ensure safety and provide parameters for the renovation design. The parallel seismic method was employed using the RSM-PST(A) Parallel Seismic Tester to determine pile length and integrity.
Testing Results
-
Measured Pile Length: Approximately 4.8 m
-
Signal Condition: The top ~1 m of pile shaft signal was exposed above ground.
-
Defect Detection: Data analysis indicated a defect at approximately 1.5 m depth within the pile shaft.
-
Impact: The detection provided essential input for evaluating the safety and suitability of the existing piles for reuse in the reconstruction project.
Evaluation
-
Engineering Assessment: The testing confirmed actual pile length and identified local defects, ensuring the renovation design would be based on reliable data.
-
Equipment Performance: The RSM-PST(A) delivered clear signals and accurate measurement results, meeting the requirements for evaluating aged pile foundations.
