Testing Purpose & Method
The objective of this testing was a third-party assessment of the integrity of anti-slide piles forming part of the retaining wall structure along both sides of the newly built road. The ultrasonic crosshole method was employed to evaluate pile continuity, detect potential internal flaws, and ensure compliance with design and safety standards.

 

Testing Scope

  • Pile foundations of slope retaining wall structures along the roadway

  • Integrity verification of anti-slide piles subject to horizontal loading

 

Testing Results

  • Findings: Most piles demonstrated good integrity. A small number of piles exhibited defects at the pile toe (bottom section).

  • Impact: Anti-slide piles primarily resist lateral forces. Defects at the pile toe can create stress concentration zones, which may compromise long-term structural safety if left unaddressed.

 

Evaluation

  • Engineering Evaluation: Overall pile integrity met project requirements, with localized defects requiring targeted monitoring or reinforcement.

  • Equipment Performance: The RSM-SY7(D) provided clear and reliable ultrasonic data, enabling accurate detection of pile bottom anomalies and offering valuable insights for construction quality control.
