Project Overview

Project Name: Guishi Reservoir Disaster Mitigation Project, Lianshan Town, Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County, Hezhou City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

Project Type: Reservoir Engineering

Location: Lianshan Town, Fuchuan Yao Autonomous County, Hezhou City, Guangxi Province, China

Testing Equipment: RSM-DCT(F) Borehole Television Detector

Testing Purpose & Method
The project focused on post-grouting inspection of the dam body and surrounding rock mass as part of disaster mitigation works. Given that the Guishi Reservoir was originally built in the 1970s–1980s and has been in operation for nearly 60 years, its dam structure has developed cracks that required grouting reinforcement. The borehole television method was adopted to directly observe the internal conditions of repaired zones, verifying the effectiveness of the remediation.

Testing Scope

Visual inspection of the dam body and nearby rock mass after grouting treatment

Evaluation of crack sealing effectiveness and potential remaining defects

Testing Results

Findings: Repair conditions were assessed as good, with grout effectively sealing observed cracks.

Impact: The results confirmed that reinforcement works significantly improved the structural safety of the dam, which is critical for protecting the livelihoods of tens of thousands of residents downstream.

Evaluation

Engineering Evaluation: Overall project quality and structural safety were rated as good, providing confidence in the reservoir’s continued safe operation.

Equipment Performance: The RSM-DCT(F) provided reliable visual inspection results. However, feedback suggested further improvements in probe design for both small and large boreholes, and better handling of fogging issues caused by temperature differences to enhance image clarity.
